Information and Communication Technologies as Drivers of Economic Development and Public Economic Perceptions: The Case of Kosovo
Abstract
Digital transformation is emerging as a key factor of contemporary economic development, particularly in transition economies, where information and communication technologies (ICTs) influence both economic performance and public perceptions of economic development and stability. This study aims to analyze the role of ICTs as drivers of economic development and as shaping factors of public economic perceptions, focusing on the case of Kosovo. The methodology is based on a quantitative empirical approach, using a structured Likert-scale survey, while the data are analyzed through descriptive and interpretative methods. The findings indicate the existence of a positive relationship between ICT usage, increased economic efficiency, and the strengthening of positive perceptions of economic development. However, the full impact of ICTs remains conditioned by institutional factors and public economic communication. The study offers theoretical contributions and practical implications for digital development policies in Kosovo.
